Corporate Social Responsibility Practice
Our “Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) Legal Practice” advises BHC clients in all areas of business ethics under the Iraqi legal regime related to fair labor conditions, environmental protection, sustainable development, and other related areas. In response to growing interest and pressure from consumers, many companies have developed internal and operational policies designed to promote positive social change and provide goodwill to the community. Examples of such policies include charitable giving campaigns, environmental preservation initiatives, pro bono legal services, and community service events.
Here at BHC, we work tirelessly to address our clients’ concerns regarding their CSR obligations. We serve companies, individuals, organizations, and government agencies with new or existing CSR initiatives. The BHC Team is skilled at developing measurable impact tools to assess CSR program progress, taking into account environmental, social and governance (ESG) factors, program sustainability, and international best practices. Our CSR attorneys have experience in a number of social justice and human rights subjects such as refugee protection, international human rights, international trafficking in persons (human trafficking), genocide prevention, environmental justice, and access to justice issues.
BHC provides guidance on CSR policy, training, and action plan development, as well as compliance with any mandatory reporting requirements. We are committed to conducting thorough due diligence in the carrying out of any impact assessments in order to advise our clients of potential risks associated with their operational activities. The social performance of our clients is a high priority to BHC and to the Iraqi community at large, so we have a vested interest in working with our clients to ensure that their CSR programs are well-designed, sustainable, and effectively implemented.
